DSAC collaborated with ASEAN Foundation for the implementation of the ASEAN Data Science Explorer (ADSE) National Final in Singapore, held at Colours@SP on Wednesday, 5th September 2018. The ADSE competition is the flagship initiative under the ASEAN Foundation’s partnership with SAP, the world’s leading software company. It aims to enhance awareness and appreciation of an ASEAN Community among young people through digital literacy intervention.
Ten teams are shortlisted for the national face-off from Singapore, and the winner from the National Finals will be invited to participate in the Regional Finals that will be held in Singapore on 25th October 2018 to pitch their data-analytics-based findings and recommendations to respond to social and economic issues across six United Nation Sustainable Development Goals, using the SAP Analytics Cloud.
There are 2 teams from Singapore Polytechnic at the national face-off. The SP team ‘DoraTheExplorer’ clinched the second place and the team ‘Plan B’ from NUS High School of Math & Science emerged the winner, who will be representing Singapore in the Regional Finals.
The ADSE Regional Finals is a wonderful opportunity to witness how one can use data analytics to derive authentic solutions towards various socio-economic and environmental issues. The event will be attended by distinguished guests including senior government officials and members of the diplomatic community. The Guest of Honour for the event is Minister for Communications and Information, Mr S. Iswaran. The Secretary-General of ASEAN, Mr Lim Jock Hoi will also be joining the event.
